Thursday May 12, 7pm Bust That Broom! YES Evening Zoom Presentation with Joanna Sales
Joanne Sales founded the Broombusters Invasive Plant Society with a small group of friends in 2006 in Qualicum Beach. https://www.broombusters.org Sixteen years later, 12 municipalities have adopted the Broombusters partnership, in which volunteers cut broom and the city disposes of the branches. Broombusters’ slogan “Cut Broom in Bloom” is now well-known all-over Vancouver Island. In 2021, over 600 volunteers cut broom for over 7,000 hours on Vancouver Island and Powell River. There are many environmental problems facing us, but this is one we can do something about. Broombusters’ strategies work, and they can be used anywhere.
